Job Description

Job Summary:

The candidate for this position will maintain a continuous state of alertness and awareness to control and secure the facility, equipment, customers, visitors, and staff. The Security Manager will operate within legal constraints and contract agency stipulations in order to maintain the security of the facility and safety of all onsite personnel and guest.

 

Job Description and Detail:

 

• Supervise the day to day security operations of a facility or group of facilities

• Manage multiple teams of Security Officers, Site and Shift Supervisors including hiring/selection, scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, development and support

• Schedule staff for adequate coverage • Build, improve and maintain effective relationships with both clients and employees

• Coordinate necessary support services to effectively manage client sites to meet or exceed financial and operational goals and provide quality customer service

• Ensure all required reporting and contract compliance requirements are met

• Handle any escalated security issues or emergency situations appropriately

• Create or implement security standards, policies, and procedures.

• Identify, investigate, or resolve security breaches.

• Respond to medical emergencies, bomb threats, fire alarms, or intrusion alarms, following emergency response procedures. • Monitor and ensure a sound, ethical environment.

• Plan, direct, or coordinate security activities to safeguard company assets, employees, guests, or others on company property.

• Develop, implement, manage, or evaluate policies and methods to protect personnel and guests against harassment, threats, or violence.

• Develop, conduct, support, or assist in governmental reviews, internal corporate evaluations, or assessments of the overall effectiveness of facility and personnel security processes.

• Train subordinate security professionals or other organization members in security rules and procedures.

• Assess risks to mitigate potential consequences of incidents and develop a plan to respond to incidents.

• Communicate security status, updates, and actual or potential problems, using established protocols.

Requirements

Professional Qualifications:

• The ideal candidate will be decisive and persuasive but not be an “ego” driven individual

• The person will need to lead by example and be “hands on” with the ability to see the big picture

• This role will function as the "eyes and the ears" on the ground and must have the flexibility to adapt to different situations and to think on their feet

• The individual must be a measured thinker and have first-rate analytical skills

• The successful candidate will be a natural leader whose strengths and style complement the existing team

• S/he will be a respected employee of the highest integrity and a leader who can positively affect the culture, external image, and inspire performance

• High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor’s degree preferred

• Minimum of 4 years of security experience with at least 2 years of experience managing security personnel (prior military/police experience highly desirable)

• Ability to conduct Risk Assessments

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Proficient in basic computer skills

• Ability to quickly learn the layout of the facility, function rooms, and some knowledge of the city and surrounding areas

• Fingerprint card, current CPR/First Aid certification required

• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen

• Valid driver’s license with no suspensions or revocations within the past 7 years

• Ability to stand, walk and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions for duration of shift

• Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking significant distances between and within buildings on the property

• Must have the ability to communicate in English

• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays

• Strong time management experience required with the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously

• Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills required

• Ability to work in a team-oriented management environment with the ability to work independently

• Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous priorities, complex situations, a diverse team of employees and client requirements on an ongoing basis
